WEATHER UPDATES

WHY ARE WEATHER UPDATES ALWAYS IN ALL CAPS… ALSO… THEY DON’T SEEM TO USE PROPER PUNCTUATION…

&&  (<– really, what does the double ampersand even mean??)

.ALSO THEY SAY HORRIBLE THINGS LIKE THIS… “FINAL PREPARATIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY SHOULD BE COMPLETED BEFORE CONDITIONS DETERIORATE.”

Is it because weather is always VERY SERIOUS and is only properly communicated through SHOUTING?

I guess I’d better go batten hatches and secure life and property.

  1. You make some good points. I mostly wonder why it has bad punctuation. They cry wolf so much I’m sure a warning for any real disasters would go unheeded by many.

calm down – get excited about something that matters

  3. Batten Hatches. Actually a nautical term used on ships to keep water from going into deck openings used to load cargo.
